Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS), under the Ministry of Defence, Government of India, has released the official notification for Short Service Commission (SSC) Medical Officers Recruitment 2026. A total of 100 vacancies are available — 75 for Male and 25 for Female candidates. The online application window opened on 21 February 2026 and closes on 04 March 2026. SSC Medical Officers are commissioned into the Indian Army Medical Corps, Army Dental Corps, or Military Nursing Service for a short service tenure. Salary / Pay Structure
SSC Medical Officers receive a comprehensive pay package as follows:
- Basic Pay: ₹61,300 per month
- Military Service Pay (MSP): ₹15,500 per month
- HRA: As applicable based on city category (X, Y, Z)
- Non-Practising Allowance (NPA): At prevalent rates
- Transport Allowance: ₹3,600 – ₹7,200 per month (city-wise)
- Dress Allowance: ₹20,000 annually
- Dearness Allowance (DA): As per prevalent rates

Selection Process
The selection for AFMS SSC Medical Officer 2026 is conducted in the following stages:
- Shortlisting based on NEET PG 2025: Applications will be screened and filtered based on NEET PG entrance examination marks/percentile. The percentile score will be proportionately converted into "Calculated NEET PG Marks" out of 200. Separate merit lists are prepared for male and female candidates.
- Personal Interview / Viva-Voce: Shortlisted candidates are called for an interview by a Board of Officers (tentatively in March 2026 at Delhi). A minimum of 50% marks is required to qualify the interview.
- Document Verification: Original certificates including MBBS/PG degree, NMC/MCI registration, internship completion certificate, and identity proof are verified.
- Medical Examination: A Special Medical Board conducts the medical fitness examination for finally shortlisted candidates. Candidates must meet the prescribed physical and medical standards of the Indian Armed Forces.
