Punjab Subordinate Services Selection Board (PSSSB) has officially released the PSSSB Excise and Taxation Inspector Recruitment 2026 notification under Advertisement No. 01/2026 on 06 February 2026. A total of 197 vacancies have been announced for the post of Excise and Taxation Inspector under the Department of Excise and Taxation, Punjab. Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification: Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognised University. Completion of a 120-hour IT/Computer course from an ISO 9001 certified institution OR O Level DOEACC equivalent certification. Mandatory: Punjabi subject at Matriculation (10th) level with a minimum of 50% marks. Candidates without Punjabi in 10th are not eligible.

- SC / BC (Punjab residents): 18 to 42 years
- Physically Handicapped (PwBD): Maximum 47 years
- Widows / Divorced Women: Maximum 40 years
- Ex-Servicemen: As per Punjab Recruitment of Ex-Servicemen Rules, 1982
Pay Scale
Selected candidates will be placed at Pay Level corresponding to Rs.35,400 per month under the 7th Central Pay Commission pay scale. In addition, candidates are entitled to DA, HRA, and other allowances as per Punjab Government rules, making the gross salary significantly higher than basic pay.

Selection Process
The selection is conducted in 4 stages: (1) Written Examination – Objective type covering General Knowledge, Punjabi Language, Computer Knowledge, and relevant topics. Written exam marks count in the final merit list. (2) Typing Test – Punjabi and/or English typing test. This is qualifying in nature. Candidates failing the typing test are not considered further. (3) Document Verification – Shortlisted candidates must produce all original documents including educational certificates, Punjabi medium certificate, caste certificate, computer course certificate, and domicile certificate. (4) Final Merit List – Based on written examination score, subject to clearing the typing test and document verification.
