The High Court for the State of Telangana has released an official recruitment notification for 09 Driver positions in various District Courts across Telangana. Educational Qualification and License Requirements

Candidates must have passed SSC (10th standard) or equivalent examination from a recognized board. Ability to read and write Telugu, Urdu, Hindi, or English is mandatory. The most critical requirement is possession of a current valid Light Motor Vehicle (LMV) driving license issued under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. The license must include endorsements for Motor Cycles and Auto Rickshaws. Candidates must have minimum 3 years practical driving experience with valid LMV license in driving cars, jeeps, or similar vehicles. Professional driving training from recognized institutions is preferred.

Age Limit and Relaxations

The age criteria is set between 18 to 46 years as on the date specified in notification. Age relaxation is provided as per Telangana State Government rules: SC/ST candidates receive 5 years relaxation, BC candidates get 5 years, PWD candidates receive 10 years cumulative with category relaxation, and Ex-servicemen receive length of service plus 3 years relaxation. Widows and divorced women also receive age concessions as per applicable rules.

Salary Structure and Benefits

Selected candidates will be placed in the pay scale of Rs. 22,900-69,150 per month as per Telangana State Government Pay Revision Commission. The starting basic pay is Rs. 22,900 which increases through annual increments. In addition to basic pay, drivers receive Dearness Allowance (DA) revised twice annually, House Rent Allowance (HRA) ranging from 16-24% based on city classification, City Compensatory Allowance, Transport Allowance, Washing Allowance for uniform maintenance, and Risk Allowance for handling official vehicles. Medical facilities through CGHS hospitals, Leave Travel Concession (LTC) once in two years, General Provident Fund (GPF) or Contributory Pension Scheme, Gratuity on retirement, and Group Insurance coverage are also provided. The total CTC is highly competitive considering all components.

Selection Process

The comprehensive selection process includes document verification where applications are screened for eligibility criteria. Shortlisted candidates are called for practical driving test conducted on LMV vehicles evaluating starting, stopping, gear shifting, steering control, traffic negotiation, parking, reverse driving, traffic rules adherence, and overall driving skills. Written test covers traffic rules, road safety, vehicle maintenance, and mechanical knowledge. Physical fitness test ensures adequate stamina for driving duties, and medical examination by authorized officers verifies vision, hearing, and general health. Final merit list is prepared based on cumulative performance.
