Railway RRC WR Apprentice Recruitment 2026 – Complete Details

Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC), Western Railway has officially released the RRC WR Apprentice Recruitment 2026 notification under Advertisement No. RRC/WR/04/2025. A total of 5,349 Act Apprentice vacancies have been announced across various Divisions and Workshop units of Western Railway. This recruitment is conducted under the Apprentices Act, 1961 for the training year 2025-26. Candidates who have passed 10th class with minimum 50% aggregate marks along with an ITI certificate in the relevant trade from an NCVT/SCVT affiliated institute are eligible to apply online through the official portal rrc-wr.com.

This is an excellent opportunity for young candidates seeking a foothold in Indian Railways. The apprenticeship is a one-year training programme and successful candidates receive a National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) upon completion, which is recognised across government and private sectors. The NAC also provides preference in future Railway recruitment examinations.

About Western Railway (RRC WR)

Western Railway is one of the 18 zones of Indian Railways, headquartered at Churchgate, Mumbai. It covers major divisions including Mumbai Central, Vadodara, Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, and Ratlam. The Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC) under Western Railway handles all Group D and Apprentice recruitments. RRC WR Apprentice vacancies are spread across multiple divisions and workshop units such as Mumbai Central Workshop, Dahanu Road, Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, and Ratlam Divisions.

Vacancy Details – Trade Wise

Western Railway has announced vacancies across 19+ trades. The major trades include Fitter (1614), Electrician (1217), Welder (532), PASAA (280), Electronic Mechanic (236), Mechanic Diesel (207), Painter (190), Carpenter (184), and others including Wireman, Plumber, Sheet Metal Worker, Machinist, Turner, and more. Candidates should apply only for the trade in which they hold a valid ITI certificate.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed Matriculation (10th class) in the 10+2 system with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks from a recognised Board. Additionally, candidates must hold an ITI Certificate in the relevant trade affiliated to NCVT or SCVT. The ITI trade must correspond to the trade applied for.

Age Limit

As on 23-03-2026: Minimum 15 years, Maximum 24 years. Age Relaxation: SC/ST – 5 years; OBC – 3 years; PwBD – 10 years; Ex-Servicemen – as per government norms.

Stipend During Training

Selected apprentices receive a monthly stipend during the one-year training period. 10th Pass (without ITI): approx. Rs.6,000/month. ITI Pass candidates: approx. Rs.7,000 to Rs.8,050/month as per Railway Board norms. No DA, HRA or PF is applicable during the apprenticeship period.

General / OBC / EWS: Rs.100/- | SC / ST / PwBD / Women: Nil (Exempted). Payment is to be made online during the application process through net banking, debit/credit card or UPI.

Selection Process

Selection is purely based on Merit calculated from marks obtained in 10th class and ITI examination. No written examination is conducted. Shortlisted candidates are called for Document Verification followed by a Medical Examination. Final selection depends on the merit list, document verification, and medical fitness.
