The Department of Women and Child Development, Government of Uttar Pradesh, through the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) scheme, has announced recruitment for 13 Anganwadi Worker positions across various project areas in Ballia district. This notification, released on 07 February 2026, invites applications from eligible female candidates who are passionate about child welfare, women empowerment, and community development. Anganwadi Workers play a pivotal role in implementing the ICDS program, which is one of the world's largest outreach programs for early childhood care and development, reaching millions of children, pregnant women, and lactating mothers across India. Anganwadi Workers serve as the frontline functionaries of the ICDS scheme, working directly at the grassroots level to provide essential services including supplementary nutrition, health check-ups, immunization, nutrition and health education, and preschool education to children aged 3-6 years. They act as a crucial link between the community and the government health and nutrition services. The position requires dedicated individuals who can work closely with rural and urban communities, understand local social dynamics, and effectively deliver integrated services to the most vulnerable sections of society, particularly children under six years and pregnant and lactating mothers. The current recruitment covers 13 vacancies distributed across eight project areas in Ballia district: Bairiya (3 posts), Dubhad (2 posts), Maniar (1 post), Murlichhapra (2 posts), Nagra (1 post), Pandah (1 post), Siar (2 posts), and Sohav (1 post). Each Anganwadi Worker is assigned to a specific Anganwadi Center covering a population of 400-800 in rural areas or 300-700 in urban areas. The role involves maintaining registers, conducting surveys, organizing community meetings, preparing and distributing supplementary nutrition, monitoring the growth of children, identifying malnourished children, coordinating with health workers for immunization, and conducting preschool activities. Candidates selected as Anganwadi Workers receive an honorarium as per the Government of Uttar Pradesh norms, currently ranging from Rs. 4,500 to Rs. 9,000 per month depending on the type of Anganwadi Center (mini/regular) and service duration. Additionally, workers are entitled to incentives for performance-based targets, uniform allowance, and other benefits as per ICDS guidelines. The selection process is transparent and conducted strictly as per the government order dated 17 September 2025, which prescribes merit-based selection through a point-scoring system considering educational qualifications, local residence, and other relevant factors. This is an excellent opportunity for women seeking meaningful employment in social development while serving their communities. Selected candidates will undergo comprehensive training on ICDS services, child development, nutrition, health, and preschool education before deployment at Anganwadi Centers.
