About ICDS and Anganwadi

Anganwadi Centers serve 400-800 population providing supplementary nutrition, immunization coordination, health check-ups, pre-school education, and growth monitoring. Anganwadi Workers are frontline functionaries managing centers and serving as primary interface between ICDS and community. Barabanki district has extensive Anganwadi network requiring dedicated workers across urban and rural sectors.

Duties and Responsibilities

Anganwadi Workers perform critical duties including conducting household surveys to identify beneficiaries, maintaining comprehensive registers, organizing supplementary nutrition program, conducting pre-school education for children 3-6 years using play-way methods, coordinating immunization sessions with ANM, conducting monthly growth monitoring, providing nutrition and health education to mothers, motivating school enrollment, maintaining center cleanliness, participating in community meetings and awareness campaigns, coordinating with ASHA and ANM for convergent service delivery, and submitting monthly reports to CDPO office. Work involves center-based activities 4-5 hours daily plus home visits and community mobilization.

Educational Qualification and Merit

Minimum qualification is Intermediate (Class 12th) or equivalent from recognized board. No minimum percentage required but marks determine merit. Unique merit system rewards higher education: Intermediate percentage forms base score; Graduation adds 5-10% bonus marks; Post-Graduation adds 10-15% additional marks. Professional qualifications like B.Ed., D.El.Ed. receive bonus. Preference to local sector candidates. Final merit score determines selection rank.

Age Limit and Domicile

Age: 18 to 35 years as on 01 January 2026. Age relaxation: SC/ST 5 years (max 40), OBC 3 years (max 38), PWD 10 years, Widows/divorced women up to 15 years. Must be permanent resident of Barabanki District with domicile certificate from Tehsildar mandatory.

Selection Process
